Brake the Cycle: Camden to Cape Town

from 17 Sep 2011 - 21 Dec 2012 in Europe, the Middle East and Africa

Brake the Cycle is a brand new social enterprise ready to inspire sustainable and resilient living through carbon free adventuring.

From September 2011, co founders Joe Reid and Marcus Letts will cycle unsupported over 14,000 miles from Camden to Cape Town, journeying through Europe, the Middle East and Africa in over 12 months on the road.

Would you like to come along with us?

Earlier this year we successfully completed our first national tour: a 21 challenger strong Land's End to John O'Groats challenge which covered 1,000 miles and raised over £11,500 for our chosen charities, the Otesha Project UK and AfriKids.

Over the next few years, Brake the Cycle will establish regular programmes of 1, 3 and 6 cycle tours across the UK and Europe, visiting a network of permaculture projects, community centres, eco builds and festivals in Transition, in order to immerse challengers in alternative living practices and inspire positive change in their everyday lifestyles.

This is about doing. By pledging to cycle to work, turn off your TV or buy locally produced food, you're acting positively to change a collective reality which is environmentally destructive and unsustainable. We share the potential to build a better world.

Are you ready to make a difference?

Yes, we're asking you to support our challenge by sponsoring us. But we're not asking you to give us your change. We're asking you to create change.

Please follow the simple instructions on the right, browse the DoActions and find one (or more) that suits you, then make your pledge(s).

Some will be easy, others take a little more effort. But they're all environmentally conscious and the currency is CO2 - The DoNation calculates these savings and donates them to our challenge, publishing your pledges here on our page.

You only pledge to do your chosen action for two months and all the information you need is provided here on The DoNation, making it really easy to complete. At the end of the two months you'll be asked how you got on, and at that point your donation is confirmed.

So please, support our Camden to Cape Town challenge and make changes to your own lifestyle which could help to keep you fit, improve your diet or even save you money.

Thank you, and congratulations. You're a Doer!
