Nick: Cycling 2000 miles from Perth, WA, to Adelaide, SA.
I'm cycling from Perth to Adelaide. 2000 miles in two months. (Much of this goes through the Nullarbor desert.) As summer begins to cool, around mid-March 2012, I'll be setting off with very full panniers and a scared look on my face.
Along the way I'll be volunteering on organic farms in the rural parts of WA and SA (so far including a vineyard, a berry orchard and an arts/growing space), as well as meeting up with small press and self-publishing groups in the cities. Through these encounters I will be learning about, and from, the lives and experiences of Australian people. Whilst having grown up in Australia myself, I moved away when I was 11. This is also my chance to encounter the country, and its people, as an adult.
In Bristol (UK) I'm involved in self-publishing comix and coordinating a collaborative zine. As I cycle across Aus and meet its people I'll be writing and drawing several zines documenting my experiences.
And if I've still got the legs for it, I'll keep cycling on to Melbourne.
You'll be able to follow my progress at velosolo.wordpress.com.
By sponsoring this ride you're not handing out cash, instead you're taking action. Follow the instructions on the right, browse the DoActions and find one (or more) that suits you, then make your pledge(s).
You'll pledge to do your chosen action for two months, over the period that I'm cycling.
In solidarity!
Nick.

I'm in Ceduna! 1668 miles (2685km) on from Perth, I'm now back in some semblance of civilization. That's the Nullarbor done then. My legs are feeling a bit used.

Heading out in about an hour across the Nullarbor. I'll be out of contact for just over a week. Catch you from the other side! x
