Shem: Running the Leeds Half Marathon
After never having run much further than the length of a football pitch, in 2013 I'm going to be running for 21 km around the lovely streets of Leeds.
I'm doing it partly as a personal challenge and partly to raise awareness about living sustainably. It's not about saving the Earth, it's about taking action so that the poorest and most vulnerable don't have to pay the price for the mismanagement of the Earth's resources by the more wealthy (that's us!).
Often it's people living in the world's poorest nations who are forced to cope with the worst effects of climate change and pollution caused by needless consumption. The good news is that we all have it in our power to make a difference, no money is involved and it can even make us healthier!
So I'm asking all my amazing friends to sponsor me not with money but by pledging an action to live more sustainably for two months. There are loads of actions available, ranging from walking more to eating sustainable food or giving up smoking.
Thanks for supporting me, I'll be thinking of all the amazing things you're doing as I'm huffing and puffing my way through the training runs :)

HOW IT WORKS:
Browse the DoActions and find one (or more) that suits you, then make your pledge(s). Some are really easy; others take a bit more effort.

You only pledge to do your chosen action for two months and all the information you need is provided here on The DoNation, making it really easy to complete. You'll receive a few helpful reminders and then at the end of the two months you'll be asked to confirm how you got on.
Thank you!!
