wedding 'gift' list
don't ask for yet another toaster
Getting married? Fancy doing it a little differently and making your special day stand out from the rest? Or perhaps you don’t like asking your friends for presents? You don’t really need more ‘stuff’, especially those awkward and unwanted gifts?! And you want to feel good about yourself and the environment on your big day?
Instead of creating the traditional wedding gift list why not ask your friends to pledge actions? They could do anything from our ever-growing list of DoActions - like eating local seasonal food, cycling to work, or switching to a clean energy supplier - all for you.

Sure, some of your friends will find it a very odd idea, but let’s be honest: most will be relieved not to have to pay for yet another gift. And what’s more, they’ll feel like they’re playing a meaningful part in your wedding, they’ll have some good conversation starters on the day itself, and they’ll probably even get a little healthier themselves. Not to mention the benefits to the environment.
How it works:
To set up a gift list, you’ll first have to create an account then set up your page (they’re slightly inappropriately called ‘challenge pages’ at the moment, but that’s not to say your wedding will be a challenge!). This is where you can explain what you’re doing (getting married!) and why you’re asking for actions instead of presents. Check out this one as a slightly quirky example.
At the moment it’s not possible to select which DoActions are available to your friends, but you can suggest which ones you’d prefer them to do in the description field of the event.
Finally, send the link out with the invitations and see what your friends do for you.
