Junior Web Developer

Contract: Full Time

We’re looking for an enthusiastic junior developer to help us continue building our Do Good for Business platform. If you’re keen on sustainability and want to ‘code for good’, you might be what we’re looking for! At the moment, the development of  Do Good for Business is handled by our CTO Martin but as the platform is expanding, we are looking to get an extra developer on board.

Day-to-day responsibilities

- Help to develop the Do Good for Business platform. This will mainly consist of backend work but you may be expected to do frontend development occasionally.

- Work in a test driven development environment.

- Define product specs alongside the rest of the team.

- Update the servers (Heroku) with the latest features.

Requirements

- Experience with any two of: Python, Javascript, Git, CSS.

- Passionate about learning the latest technologies.

- Ability to jump between tasks (we’re a startup, random things happen).

- Desire to produce high quality code while keeping deadlines in mind.

Bonus Points

- Any experience with jQuery, Bootstrap, Django, Angular, SASS, Vagrant or Selenium.

- An interest in behaviour change.

What does The DoNation do exactly?

The DoNation is a platform where people can make, measure and share personal pledges, to do things like recycling, switching off lights or sharing with neighbours. We’re all about showing people that the small things we do add up to make a big difference, helping them to form healthy and environmentally friendly habits.

We do this through Do Good for Business, an online programme that helps companies to save money by engaging employees in energy-saving, health boosting, sustainable actions. Teams of staff compete against one another to make the most pledges and save the most carbon. See here for a case study.

We also have our non-profit arm, Donate by Doing. This is a sponsorship platform, much like JustGiving, but instead of donating cash, people ‘donate’ actions. See here for a nice example.
