About the People
Hermione Taylor:
Founding Director
Hermione has never liked to be conventional, and has always been a sucker for a challenge. Why else, as a diabetic with a metal femur, would she have decided to cycle from London to Morocco? And then returned to set up a social enterprise in exciting but un-trodden territory mid financial crisis?
She spent 2008/09 studying at Imperial College London for an MSc in Environmental Technology, learning the ins and outs of the global environmental scenario and international climate policy. An interesting and novel piece of research, her thesis also acted as great market research for JustSaving – it was the first comprehensive analysis of the role of climate change pledge schemes on environmental behaviour change. Handy.
Before the MSc, Hermione spent a great chunk of time working in Vancouver, Canada, a place that remains close to her heart. She also studied for an undergraduate degree in Biology at Edinburgh University. Sandwiched between the two, she worked in several jobs in the environmental field, including an internship with Sancroft International and Waste Manager at Edinburgh Zoo.
