nlsoucek: Cycling 3000 miles from Perth, WA, to Melbourne, Vic.
I'm going cycle from Perth (where I was born) to Melbourne (where my younger sister is moving, from the UK, later this year). 3000 miles alongside the southern coast, much of which is through the Nullarbor desert. This is not just a journey of physical and mental endurance, but it is also a personal journey. My intention is to learn about, and from, the lives and experiences of the people I meet. From (and through) which I hope to also learn more about myself. In order to work towards this I will volunteer at organic farms along the way, and volunteer my time (and experience) at small press and self-publishing organisations at each end of the cycle.
As the desert temperatures during the summer are prohibitively warm, I will be beginning just as summer down-under begins to cool around mid-March 2012. Depending on how long I spend volunteering at different places, I've calculated 8 weeks to make my way between the two cities, and hopefully I'll arrive in Melbourne mid-May.
Yes, I'm asking you to sponsor me... But no, I'm not asking you to give me your change: I'm asking you to create change.
All you need to do is follow the instructions on the right, browse the DoActions and find one (or more) that suits you, then make your pledge(s).
Some will be really easy, others take a bit more effort. But they've all got an environmental focus and the currency is CO2 - The DoNation calculates these savings and donates them to me, publishing your pledges here on my page.
You only pledge to do your chosen action for two months and all the information you need is provided here on The DoNation, making it really easy to complete. At the end of the two months you'll be asked how you got on, and at that point your donation is confirmed.
So please, get doing!
Thank you!
