gift lists and events
don't ask for yet another toaster
The DoNation isn't just about sweaty marathons or muddy triathlons. People have used it in all sorts of clever ways - especially as gift lists and simple pledge tools for events. Read on to find out more.
Gift lists
Getting married? Turning a year older? Avoiding the usual Christmas present pile-up?
Don’t like asking your friends for presents and fancy doing it a bit differently? Perhaps you don’t really need more ‘stuff’, especially those awkward and unwanted gifts?
Well here's the ideal way to feel good about yourself and the environment on your big day. Instead of creating the traditional gift list why not ask your friends to pledge DoActions - be it eating local seasonal food, cycling to work, or giving up smoking - all for you.

How it works:
To set up a gift list or event pledge, you’ll first have to create an account then click 'start raising DoActions'. This is where you can explain what you’re doing and why you’re asking for actions instead of presents. Check out this one as a slightly quirky example.
At the moment it’s not possible to select which DoActions are available to your friends, but you can suggest which ones you’d prefer them to do in the description field of the event.
Finally, send the link out with the invitations and see what your friends do for you.
