Represent your hall and get behind Britain’s biggest climate change campaign by making your own personal pledge for Climate Week 2014.

In partnership with The DoNation, UNITE in Plymouth will be launching a city wide competition which will see five halls battle it out to save the most carbon.

Prizes will be given to the hall who has pledged to save the most carbon as well as the hall who has confirmed the most carbon savings so there really is all to play for!

FAQs:
1. How is the carbon calculated?
With the help of ERM, and environmental consultancy.  For each DoAction there are a few short questions that allow us to calculate the difference between the carbon used by the existing and pledged behaviours. Clearly there are a few (very sound) assumptions involved, and the numbers are more indicative of scale of impact than anything else.

2. My team is smaller than others, isn’t that a bit unfair?
In order to create a level playing field for all teams, we added the ‘per person’ columns to the league table, where the total pledges made by the team are divided by the number of people in that team, giving nice ‘per capita’ data.

3. Why are the figures in the ‘per person’ column so small and not whole numbers?
Your teams are pretty big and so it's only natural that the 'per capita' pledge info is going to be small, and in fractions.

4. How is the league table sorted?
You can sort the league table by any of the columns – simply click on the column title and it’ll refresh.

5. How long am I committed to doing my pledge for?
Two months, and two months only. Obviously, we hope you will continue doing it after that (and the vast majority seem to), but it’s your call.

6. If I struggle in doing my pledge first time around, can I have a second shot at it?
Yes. Well, hopefully. At the time of launch, it’s not possible for one user to make the same pledge on the same page more than once. However, we’re looking into changing this, and will keep you posted.

7. Why is the ‘confirmed’ column blank?
For the first few months of the programme the confirmed columns will be blank because no one will have had a chance to complete their pledges yet. It’s only after two months that you’re asked to return and confirm how you got on, and then these columns will start to fill up.
